Collaborative Therapy That Strengthens From Within

Welcome, I’m glad you’re here!

I’m Laura Ingalls, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and owner of Wisdom Within Therapy, PLLC. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or you’re looking for a new therapeutic relationship, I am happy you’ve found this page and excited to be on this journey with you!

I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2017 with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and became fully licensed in the state of North Carolina as a counselor in 2020 (#13890). I provide in-person and telehealth therapy to clients located in North Carolina. My background includes working in sexual assault and domestic violence prevention and response; research with at-risk families; and child protective services. I also have many years of food and beverage and customer service. From walking various paths alongside many different people, I’ve found that the most rewarding part is creating space for people to feel truly heard, seen, and understood. Being a counselor allows me to provide that daily. Hearing your story and supporting your journey is a privilege and an honor.

Outside of the office, I relish walking in the woods, enjoy moving my body daily, and love spending time with my family and pets.

A wooden shelf with a black painted surface holding a pink striped planter with a green houseplant, a framed sign that says 'You are enough' with a leafy wreath design, and a copper lotus-shaped candle holder. Other green plants are visible below and behind the shelf.

My goal is to create a space where every client feels genuinely accepted, respected, and safe to be themselves.

Therapy requires vulnerability, and I believe that becomes possible when people know they don't have to hide who they are or worry about being judged. Being a human myself, I know it is a messy and difficult journey and I’m here to accompany you in an affirming, respectful, and supportive role. For real, no judgment here!

I offer flexibility to accommodate your unique needs.

While I have general office hours, my schedule affords flexibility. When I am able to, I will meet earlier or later to fit client’s needs. If we deem that you could benefit from more time in the therapy space, I can offer extended sessions. To accommodate clients needing added support, I have met with people in appropriate, non-traditional settings such as attending an initial AA meeting or holding our session in a local park. I welcome clients asking for what they need and what makes them feel most comfortable. Come as you are and we’ll work together to figure out what works best for you.

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”
